It's a tool nothing more. Right now it is like modern automation in a general factory. Useful for mass producing simple and easy products. But humans are still required for specific, detailed and complex work.
As it progressed I imagine an artists work flow will be similar to a photographers. Anyone can take pictures. But what separates the professional from the average instagram user? Expertise. A simple filter can't do what editing by hand can. Just as buying an expensive camera will not result in perfect pictures. The settings and many other factors must be adjusted by someone with the knowledge. Anyway lots of people can take photos that are of a level of quality that is much higher than the average person used to be able to take. Layman these days can take shots that can rival professional shots. But the difference is the professional uses their tools and knowledge to continue to elevate the standard returning separation from the layman and the professional. In other words they have taken advantage of modern innovations and tech to continue to build on the profession.
Artists must do the same. Many artists have related education in graphic applications, marketing, etc. AI isn't going to produce a detailed pamphlet for a company. You might be able to use images generated but you still need a person to do the layout, insert the content, choose appropriate text, make graphics that catch the eye and fit the entire theme of the product. AI also mainly has success with extremely common and widely used styling. Unique styles you see from individuals are not replicated by AI currently unless you can sample enough of said style and even then it will likely miss the mark often. If all you do is draw pictures and not much else which is the majority of the complainers. I'm sorry to tell you that you cannot turn back time and it's a hard pill to swallow but just simply drawing unless you have a large portfolio, unique style and doing work that stands out from the galaxy of other artists out there you are not bringing much value to the market. AI is not going anywhere. You need to bring more to the table and learn how to use all the tools that are available to you. Crying about it will not change anything. Art is a complicated and tough world. 99% of artists will never be known to the wider world. Whether that be painters, sculptors, etc. I feel like artists should be more concerned about everything else before AI. Mediocrity, trying to breakthrough to larger notoriety, over saturation in the market, burnout, artistic blocks took more away from artists than AI ever will.
