even without the sourcing problems, even without the economic problems, generative ai is such a massive sink for energy and water, and for what? even with all the information it has now, character ai is barely a step above cleverbot, chatgpt's "writing" is easily detectable, and ai images are inconsistent pixel slop that don't even produce interesting sources of inspiration for visual art now that it's all so refined and sanitized.
