disabled artist here! my disability is multiple chronic illnesses, (hEDS, POTS, me/cfs and fibromyalgia) i have arms that dislocate, i have a difficulty sitting and standing, i’m exhausted a lot of the time and in a lot of pain. But do you know what i enjoy doing and distracts me from the pain and the impending doom i experience every day? Drawing, it is so incredibly important for me, i lay in my bed with my feet propped up, i have light sensitivity so i draw with either a little night light or on my ipad that i bought when i still could hold a job on lower settings and blue light glasses and the night shift on, an artpiece takes much more time bcs i need breaks and if i have flare ups i don’t have the energy for it, but it brings me joy and makes me so much prouder when i finish a piece, so even as a „weak“ disabled person i stand very strongly against ai in general and especially ai „art“ we love to draw that’s why we do it, it’s the humanity and strength i put into my art that makes it special, abled bodied people speaking on behalf of the disabled community is extremely rude and disrespectful. My art, drawing, creating as much as i can, brings me life and joy even in my lowest points, do not tell US that ai is for the better for disabled people as you destroy the one thing that i love to do.
