I am studying computer science with a focus on neural networks, and I always wondered about the legal aspect of gathering data. There is actually a research field which tries to reconstruct the training data set from fully trained networks. Maybe this could be used in the future to prove that art from a specific artist was used (without their permission). I think it would already help a lot, if for each generated piece of art, the AI would credit the artists that "inspired it" the most.
