I invite anyone to participate in this discussion! Hi! I'm not taking a side, I'm just here to ask some questions and point some things out. While I understand the concerns and feel some unease myself in regards to AI Art being considered as "stealing", I can't help but question this perspective either. How does every Artist learn? By looking at what others do, and trying to do the same. Whether it be by using references, tracing, following along video tutorials, workshops, or in-person courses, etc. Some even have dedicated Art classes in College! Everybody has to go through the learning process. What happens when you are learning from someone, or you admire a certain artist? Your work may resemble theirs because you take great inspiration from them. You may use a similar style as a renowned artist. You may use similar color palettes, or shading techniques, or brush strokes, etc. The point is that your work is heavily influenced by the works of other artists that have paved the path before you. So if you are inspired by an artist, and you create a piece of Art in a style that is similar to theirs, using techniques that you have learned from them, *that's okay?* But if an AI model creates a (unique) piece of art that is in a similar style, it's *stealing?* I'd like to know how one can defend that. I'm fairly certain that you can't copyright a brush stroke, a color palette, a shading technique, a thick or thin set of lines, etc. How does one consider AI Art to be *"Stealing"* when the AI has been trained on vast datasets that include a wide range of artistic styles and techniques? When AI generates art, it's not directly copying from any specific artist but rather creating something *new based on patterns it has learned.* It can create a unique image (never been seen before) that combines multiple different styles and techniques together. Very much like any Artist who draws inspiration from a multitude of sources and references. It's an interesting topic!
