Musk is saving money by not using RADAR and LIDAR, and relying solely on computer vision. He makes more money, you lose your life (but he doesn't care about your life anyway)
This video didn't talk about that, but a good question to the experts would be: Would LIDAR and/or RADAR prevented any of these accidents? (hint: the answer is YES)
The autopilot on an airplane scans what's in front of them, see an obstacle, informs the pilot. Radar/Lidar wouldn't have detected an overturned truck, it'd sent a pulse signal, the signal would bounce back, means the car can't drive through it, full stop. Computer vision, i.e. cameras see the world flat (while radar/lidar, paint the 3D picture of the world). Cameras / computer vision don't work well in the dark. Lasers ('L" in LIDAR) work in the dark as well as during the day. So while the entire industry is using a mix of LIDAR/RADAR/Computer-Vision, Tesla doesn't and saves costs. Waymo fully autonomous cars work pretty well in San Francisco, so it's not like it's an impossible technical challenge.
Musk's authoritarian decision to NOT use LIDAR/RADAR is what made these people lose their lives
