Hasnt a form of ubi already existed in roman times where citizen beg from the rich and the rich show off by how many people they support? And slaves do most of the work. And in an A.I future those slaves cone with less ethical problems. A win for everyone. I really believe in a universal income, but not basic income. If we are to agree that all human life is equal we need to agree then that the suppression of those freedoms should have the same compensation. And what do I mean by suppression of freedoms? Laws. I never wished to be born where I am. Why is it right to impose a set of laws on me? Why is this relevant? As people stop being able to work, inequality rises, and boredom too. This is a recipe for crime and mischief. So my vision of these system is just a universal income, of a modest amount but not enough to fully live on. This creates a drive to seek for money. Let them do all sorts of stuff, like performing, gardening, etc. As robots get common, having human servants become really unique. The other aspects of my idea of a UI is it has to be reserved only for adult and free citizens. Only adult. To discourage spawning babies solely for that government UI benefits. Only free persons, because its basically a bribe to adhere to laws. And only citizens, to discourage economic migrants. So the government gives a good amount of money for everyone, and the amount is reviewed every few years or so. It shouldnt cover basic expenditure, but support it. Also, an exit clause needs to exist. If a person deems the amount isnt worth it, they can choose to get off the UI list, but need to go to a wasteland reserved for those who opt out. And the government can stop giving money to them. Win win. Ofc the government still should have power in these regions, because there might be people escaping the law in these regions. So if a person deems the stability offered by a system is really worth the laws imposed on them, then they can stay. Otherwise, opt to go into these lawless regions, and probably get captured for forced labour by whichever warlord operates there.
