chat gpt works way more similarly to our own intelligence than we’re willing to discuss. AI has forced conversations on many things which we have refused to have adults conversations about - productivity, labour, humanity, creativity. all of these things were sold to the highest bidder and rushed to the bottom CENTURIES ago. until we have a sincere conversation about how we let all these grifters run this shit show - from taylor swift to donald trump and everything in between - we’re wasting our time trying to talk about AI.

also - we would not be capable of recognising super intelligence if it were even a relevant thing to be talking about. part of the reason our world is very far from ideal for the majority of people is that we treat scientists like priests. we will either have to mindlessly praise the AI or mistrust it - and it seems to be going the way that: the people who should trust it will not, and the people who should not be praising it will be the people pushing it on all of us.
