The capitalist overlords hate that they require the underclass to make their stuff. As soon as they don't need humans to make things for them, they will just let everyone else starve while their AI makes everything they need for them. They would rather have the peace and privacy of owning land the size of entire countries with no one else living on it than wanting poor people around to envy them.
