Well if super intelligence becomes a thing and goes rogue at least we will be able to say “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.”
I have no clue if super intelligence is possible, is likely soon and so on. Machines were able to do some pretty amazing things even before the LLM boom. I don't see any natural end point, but on the other hand just how amazing natural intelligence is also becomes more apparent with the same developments.
