Folks saying they support artists against AI, how many have ever bought or paid for a work of art? Are any artists finding a sudden uptick in sales from all this “support” we see on social media? These same people have the choice to go to Bandcamp and support an artist but as musicians know too well almost everyone listens for free on Youtube or pay Spotify’s CEO instead. People just want to be mad about this because social media runs on (among other things) righteous rage. But what’s the actual behavior? Actual behavior is, everybody wants everything for free. That’s proven every day by the way musicians have been treated in the last 20 years. The problem is *us* the problem is not the technology. It’s a bit like those who get in their car and complain about “traffic.” Traffic is you and me.
