I'm sorry but this is a really superficial and shallow analysis. You say you don't want to get into copyright law but declare that prompting "avocado in the style of Van Gogh" is arbitrarily unethical. Why? You sidestep it and never question the assertion, even though ethical questions tie very much into notions of copyright and transformation.
I'm neither pro- nor anti- AI. I think machine learning has its uses and place and there's absolutely nothing wrong with this technology on its own, I do think there need to be safeguards to prevent artists from losing jobs to this especially from large corporations who would replace them, but machine learning and human learning are not mutually exclusive and both have overlap. Humans learn first from imitation and looking at examples of others art and the same can be said of machine learning, the only difference is that human learning is processed in a biological brain and machine learning is processed in a computer. That is a distinction without a difference and the differences will blur even more as AI gets better.
