I noticed this months ago. I had a Samsung phone sometime over five years ago that had this so-called skin smoothing effect that could be engaged on the camera and that’s what I thought this was. But, that wouldn’t change the entire image, only skin. Whatever this is, it’s creepy, and I also think that this is the very beginning of the end for YouTube. I think someone will come along and start up a new video hosting service and push against AI, kinda like how they did with organic food. People may even pay for it like Spotify (but cheaper) and be guaranteed no AI, no taking away the like button, no nonsense. This marks the end of YouTube.
