I mean, you can definitely find criticism to some of the arguments made in this video. Namely, the argument on the difference between "Human inspiration" and "AI inspiration" is particularly weak. Rather, you talk about the two while comparing human inspired work with AI generated images of effectively "Make something like starwars" - but that prompt isn't the same as human inspiration. That'd be like asking a human to emulate someone elses art style - and of course in that case you'll get things that 'look' like starwars, or whatever you're emulating. The fact is, if you're 'inspired' by someone elses work... you don't just copy their work. You take pieces of it and combine it with other pieces of inspiration or your own personal experiences, ect - you even express this yourself in the video. That said, the AI equivalency would be to prompt the AI to make something - in detail - having specific traits from star wars, while combining those trait with other characteristics that you want to see. And AI is actually pretty decent at this, so the argument is pretty mute. I certainly agree on issues of copyright - Moreso I agree AI is not a replacement for artists - if anything it's at best, a tool for non-artists to make something - albeit generally lacking when compared to a professional artists work. The fact that AI can 'sometimes' make passable imagery in seconds - which could take professionals hours if not tens of hours to make, is significant. Even if it can't compare in quality, the time-saving and money-saving potential is there. When talking about savings, we're not comparing it to an artist picking up a pen. We're talking about a non-artist who would have to spend thousands of dollars to hire artists to make what they want. Anyone who uses AI to make art, is not an artist. Just like if you make your own shelf from IKEA, it doesn't make you a craftsman. "You can just pick up a pen" is a pretty ingenuine argument with that in mind. Sure anyone 'can' become a artist, but not everyone wants to be.
