Self-driving will NEVER work on the same roadways shared by humans. As seen in this video, there are too many variables these systems need to be _programmed to see_ that are otherwise natural for us. The simple fact that Tesla and other manufacturers have been allowed to develop/beta test these technologies on public roads is beyond baffling; especially since we're long past the point of impact it has on the general public and owners PAYING for the privilege of endangering themselves and others. There are countless reasons why any one vehicle (or entire model lines) are scrutinized for safety and ultimately banned from public roads for a litany of reasons both real and manufactured, so WHY is this some kind of exemption? How is it that _any_ technology/innovation that strives to separate the driver from the responsibility of driving isn't held under the same scrutiny? From replacing physical buttons with capacitive touch surfaces to "auto pilot" exist a plethora of cost cutting and fads that need curbed immediately by regulating bodies.
