"I'm using it as a reference!" - Can you not use Google?? Why reference something of worse quality than a real image?? The people who say "I want to use it as reference" are essentially saying "I have no imagination so a machine can think of it for me"
Also, AI image generation being 'inevitable': whilst it is inevitable that we will have alot of shitty 'AI art', nobody will want to pay for it, or ever see it as real art.
