I remember buying my model 3 5 years ago.. best experience at a dealership ever - the employees were enthusiastic and the car was so fast and a pleasure ro drive.
However.. i made sure I didn’t drop 7k on the full self drive version (which then went to 10k the following year).
I just knew the hardware wasn’t good enough in the car for the robotaxi stuff Elon was promising by 2021.
He literally said you could park up at work with fsd and do a full days work and your car would spend the day as a robotaxi and make money for you,
Autopilot is great for when you’re on the freeway but full self drive no is incredibly frustrating when you let it drive you in the city, or anywhere for that matter. It drivers slower, hesitates, pulls risky maneuvers.. just not worth it.
Look, the model 3 I have is now at 105k miles and all I’ve done is replace a set of tires and nothing else. Battery still good.
The wife’s Honda mini van is at 109k miles and we’ve put thousands and thousands of dollars into it and something is always falling apart or failing.
It is an incredibly fun and reliable car. An amazing daily driver.
I just wish they didn’t over promise on auto pilot and fsd. Glad I did not pay for full self drive.
