Maybe a solution to this problem is to tax a corporation an amount that would be equal to hire a human a year.
Example: A company that makes medical devices used to employ 85 people... Now because of AI automation, it needs 15 people.
So you tax the company 80% of the wage the other 70 laid off employees used to make. So a laid off employee used to make 75K a year, now the company has a tax bill of $60,000 dollars that can go to a general UBI fund.
The company would still be making 15K dollars in profit per ex-employee without paying benefits and insurance.
Its is in the interest of any company to make sure people have money to buy their products and services. Otherwise they too will perish.
