About 5 minute into this: I've been saying for the past year or more that we need a federal executive department of AI. In the past few days, I've extended this notion to include a state AI department, i.e., major states like California, New York, and maybe Texas & Florida, and other states that house the massive AI databases: they all need to be making state executive departments of AI. I can't be the only person imagining this. There must be some bureaucrats or leaders who think along the same line as me. Instead, we get agreements to allow no regulation on AI for 10 years or something ridiculous. We need a well-regulated, publicly owned suite of AI systems that are subsidized for the People of the US by the corporations that heavily use it. Our taxes pay for it in many ways, and its the People who should benefit greatly from it. Corporations can still use it, but the People must come first.
