I have been using AI for 2 years now. I have to say that after several companies have spent BILLIONS on AI growth....I am not sure if it is going to replace as many jobs as people think. At least in my line of work, NO WAY can you have AI do it...not in the automotive field that depends heavily on design, engineering, and fast thinking and problem solving with your customer. In addition to this, we HAVE to be part of meetings to discuss next steps and ensure things are being implemented with a sense of urgency. Who's going to do that? AI?? No. I think the opportunity is to reduce your workload by ensuring AI can create templates with spreadsheets, analyze data much faster, and reduce the amount of time engineers need to spend telling a "story" to the customer. That said, the AI models are NOT perfect and you must leverage your lessons learned and best practices to determine the best path forward when solving problems. If anything? AI will bring the level of "mediocrity" up to a higher level...but excellence and outstanding performance will require a combination of a top performers skill + AI tools.
