I personally feel like the argument with AI art and the whole "This generated piece of Princess Mononoke looks way better than the original" is the exact same argument as "Is WWE2K15 a better game than WWE2K14?" (weird analogy i know). When 15 was revealed, everyone was raving over how better the graphics looked compared to 14 but when the game released, it lacked everything that made 14 special (gameplay wise). Although 2K15 was graphically revolutionary at the time, it lacked the magic and love 2K14 had throughout the years of perfecting and polishing the formula since like Smackdown vs Raw 2006 (I mean, you couldn’t even make custom female wrestlers in 2K15). I feel like the same argument can be applied to AI art and real art. Although AI can generate an, arguably, better rendered image with lighting and shading, it lacks the intention and care an actual artist brings to their artwork. Anyone can imagine an image as much as anyone can write a prompt into a box to generate an image for an, again arguably, better result compared to an artist with lesser experience can, but I feel like that’s what makes real art special. Art isn’t always just about how rendered the art is, but it’s also about the connection one has with the person seeing it. “The composition of this drawing says a lot about the piece.” or “The small details of the drawing tells a story about the work.” or even “haha garfield monday funny relatable.” mean way more to someone looking at an artwork than the graphical fidelity of it.
In conclusion, play WWE2K14 idk lmao.
