As someone who works in the field of Machine Learning (AI) i believe AI is not going to take our jobs but the fact that execs and managers believe AI can do the jobs better than their staff. If you really want to fight it. Call out its inefficiencies and call out those that hype it up to unrealistic levels on social media platforms (like here on YouTube). Writers, musicians and artists were never truly valued in a capitalistic society, that’s been true even before AI kicked the door down and had its way with creativity. AI is majorly limited and although it does some things well (and yes that will lead to less people being needed for certain roles) it’s not even close to reaching the heights promised by big tech. Wait to the bubble pops. Unfortunately it’s going to take the US (and perhaps the global) economy with it. But there will be some equilibrium after the readjustment period (which could be quite ugly). If people are picking blue collar jobs to avoid automation, it’s not the winning strategy people think it is. When there’s no money in the economy, a lot less people will be worrying about their plumbing or their car. They’ll be more concerned with where the next meal is coming from. Just look at what people went through during the Great Depression and you’ll get an idea. So yeah AI might destroy jobs, but not the way the tech bros were banking on.
