What's really sad to me is the possibility that social media has damaged people's perceptions of art and artists. Not irreparable, but sad nonetheless. I do like the accessibility argument in a way; my partner has severe perception difficulties that make creating art that she's proud of really difficult to near impossible, but through learning to prompt well(which is a serious skill in itself) she has been able to show her ideas visually. I strongly advocate for *ethical* use of AI, aka not passing off AI generations as your own work and using it for brainstorming and research rather than just having it generate the final product *for* you. I know as much as anyone else that creation is a skill, not a talent, and nobody is born with the ability to create masterworks. That's just not how it works. But there's merit to the idea that AI can be used constructively to help artists rather than harm us. Maybe I'm an optimist, but i do prefer to see the beauty in things first. At least until things give me a reason to abandon that optimism.
