As far as I'm concerned, if "AI" doesn't possess subjectivity/a POV/consnciousness/awareness/qualia/phenomenal experience/whatever term you want to use, then it has no intelligence to speak of and the only reason we see intelligence in it is because we see our own mental processes reflected back at us, the same as a calculator but at a higher level of complexity. At this point, I'm pretty much convinced that the only thing that can possess consciousness/subjectivity is organic life, which we still don't understand obviously. There is a mystery at the fundament of participation in Being, in the awareness that the world is in a being and it is in the world. Maybe this is out there or whatever, but I think it's really time to take mysticism seriously again, a return to metaphysics and spirit, if you will. The "new" problems of our age of rationalization and scientific progress have led us back to ancient questions and ancient methods. I'm excited to watch this video and see what this guest thinks about AI as well (so far she seems to be hinting that the terminology is a marketing ploy and a hype generator, which people have been warning about for years). Reallt just seems like another apparently inevitable technological development that will be employed by huge institutions in order to traumatize the great masses of ordinary people with yet another sweep of that heavy, double edged sword of "optimization" and "efficiency". Yes, I've learned that fear and despair are the proper responses to the mention of such ideas.
