if an autocomplete engine can take words and put them into memory, then iterate on them with a very large network of context and structure, is that not what a human is? GPT-4 is already there. it's just not very good at it yet. it's like a monkey trying to convince humans its sapient, but we already consider not-very-sapient monkeys as concious and sentient, the only thing seperating monkeys from GPT-4 here is continuity. Chat GPT runs perhaps 100 words through its network before coming to a halt. suspended animation, brain function zero, dead, by some definitions. but a monkey doesn't stop. if we do stop it, we have suspended its body, or killed it. a Chat GPT left to run forever, left to iterate on its own thoughts, even if the network is closed and the weights and biases of the network never changes, it will never learn, but still remember, thats still Sapient, Sentient, and Concious. we aren't far away.
