It's very clear that The Ai lacks something fundamentally human. The renders in the first shot of the AI girl are beautiful, but her eyes remain wide and the expression is all off. The clips with the monsters display some generic emotion we as people can understand, but the eyes look ahead as if they aren't actually seeing anything. The unfocused sight is toy-like not life-like. If you compare the shots of Mavis and the other girl too, you can clearly see all of these subtle details happening in Mavis' shot. Her head tilts and eyebrows are being mimicked in the AI generated animation. However, it is being mimicked without intent or reason. Mavis' movements are intentional and meaningful, they were put there to convey the emotional moment and context of that scene, and that automatically make it the superior animation.
I don't know if AI animation will actually get better in terms of conveying human emotion in a convincing way, but I can't see it totally mattering, unless they pay real humans to create the work in the final rendition. Because honestly these companies are more fucked then not if they can't copyright their AI products without proof of human involvement. I think AI, used ethically, has the potential to help pig projects and artists. But until we see real legal implementation to hold people using it accountable and from misusing it maliciously and greedily, it'll remain a lawless and damaging tool for the most part rn
