There's a certain side to this I never hear anyone talk about: The people with the best of artistic ideas are not always artists. I often feel like there's a type of elitism among artists; the philosophy of, "If you can't bring your own idea to life, then it doesn't deserve to exist in real life." I feel the opposite. Just because you have the power to create something more so than someone else doesn't automatically make what you create good. Take the PS3 for example. No matter how you felt about the PS3, by every other measure, it was a disaster for everyone involved. In that instance, even though Sony was able to make that idea real, even though they had the skill and the knowhow, one could argue that they should have never even tried creating that machine (and if you think a game console isn't a work of art, you've never tried designing one) Objectively, the first person to think, "We should make an Xbox360 but with a built-in hard-drive," would've been the one who's idea was best, regardless of what level of skill to build it they may or may not have had. Officially, their idea would have been the one that deserved most to be realised, regardless of whether or not they had the power to realise it themselves. Now one could say, "Well then pay someone else to realize it for you." Not that simple. Artists are expensive, emotional, and can value their process over being organized in a way that works for the client, and that's only when you just need ONE of them. AI helps those with the best ideas (but maybe not the best skills) bypass the challenges of bringing them to life so that we may ALL get to experience the benefits of those ideas.
