A few things to note. We are a nation of consumers. We want everything and then toss everything. Nobody wants Nuclear power plants, Wind Turbines, solar farms. Landfills, coal mines, cell towers, etc... But everyone wants a new cellphone and all the lastest gadgets. If America doesn't keep up do we stay a world leader? All the AI apps are pretty damn useful. Cars keep getting produced. Electric modes of transportation almost all power tools and anything that used to run on fuel. Lawnmowers, weed eaters, Drills, Saws and cutters. All this charging also requires more power. Even houses that get torn down get replaced. All the new development commercial and residential. More power has been needed almost every single year since power was invented with the except of the Great Depression, 2008 Housing Crisis, Covid. For data centers to not employ many people after completion look at the construction jobs during the build that doesn't seem to slow down. Seems like the local economy will benefit the town for many years during construction. Obviously these projects are massive.
