From an ontological perspective, no, there is not as much of a difference as people may assume there is, between an "ai" being given images from artists, to then use as references, and biological human people, doing the exact same thing.
If you wish to prompt an ai, to create an image, in the style of a particular artist...
Versus if you were to ask a human artist, to produce an image in the style of a particular artist...
There's not really a difference.
Neither will truly be an image from the original artist.
Both are an interpretation.
You might say well when a person does that, it ends up being said persons own individual style. That a human artist has uniqueness and individuality.
Well you can't really say that an AI doesn't.
From the perspective of aesthetics...
I mean, more art, more beauty in the world should be welcomed buy people from all walks of life.
There will be those who aesthetically prefer art that has been created by a biological human, and there will be those who aesthetically prefer art that is generated by an AI.
Which is fine.
As one of the other commenters pointed out, any issue or controversy or whatever that is derived from this is entirely based on money essentially.
I see no reason to take issue with this, that is not solely rooted in economics.
