One area in which AI art has raised some controversy is in tabletop/board games. Many games have dozens or even hundreds of playing cards, each of which will have some kind of illustration—they would be very dull-looking without this. But the illustration is not the _point_ of the card, it is merely decorative detail. So, many game publishers now use AI to produce the card illustrations. On one hand, this takes bread out of the mouths of real artists (many of whose work contributed to the training of the AI model); on the other hand, the art is not the point, and it looks adequate—and of course, some human selected the art and chose how to apply it, along with the cards' general design, font choice, etc. The question here is whether this sort of thing is an appropriate use for these factory-product illustrations made of spare parts.
