First, a style cannot be copyrighted! If an AI generates an image and the resulting image is not a 1:1 copy of the original, then it is not a copyright infringement and falls under the fair use policy. Secondly, every single artist in history has not invented his style, but created and trained it from various impressions and inspiration from other artists. That is also the only point that I respect and can understand. But a style doesn't belong to you! On the other hand, all images that are generated with AI are legally public domain and therefore no longer have authors.
To take your example with music. It's the same there, if a piece of music is 100 percent copied, it's illegal. The style of music is not protected but also, as with painted art, the original work. And even there it is possible to look for inspiration in the style of another artist without copying his work.
The training of an AI model is nothing more than when a human acquires these things and then acts in the style of different artists. Everyone can take a piece of paper and copy the pictures from anywhere, trace them or something similar. Now everyone is just yelling because companies are making money with the service. They don't earn money with the pictures, but with the use of AI as a service. If someone takes these pictures and wants to monetize the public domain, they can do so just as legally as selling Picasso pictures as posters. If an artist does not want anyone or anything to learn or be inspired by their art, then they should just drop the art. Before there were cameras, artists also painted portraits and were then replaced by technology. You have two options, either adapt and use the technology or watch yourself go under. That's called Darwinism!
Also, AI is not meant to replace artists, they are meant to support them. Am ence is about quality! And AI is still a long way from replacing an artist. I personally have the opportunity to finally develop myself through many AI tools and also work together with artists, because in the end, as I said, it all depends on the quality and the intentions that the users of the AI pursue.
