I think we should call it “artificial imagery” instead of “ai art”, because of the fact that all ai uses are prompts and algorithms to generate an image. Art meanwhile, no matter what form it takes, always involves a creative thought process behind it all. You may say that modern art isn’t art, but at least even there people are creatively trying to represent things. Where’s the creativity with ai? Nonexistent. Therefore, to call images generated by algorithms using some random prompt “art” is an insult to the very meaning of the word, as the only creativity that comes out of these is from the very person writing the prompts
