This is NOT level 5 self driving, clearly every driver accepts they are responsible for using the software. Warning someone 19 times they must keep their hands on the wheel is not the problem with the car, or software, it’s the problem of the carelessness and dangerous driver. This article is clearly written with the basis of blame anyone else or software, rather then placing responsibility on a driver for failing to control their car. Blaming the lack of LiDAR in the car is like blaming the lack of LiDAR in humans for accidents. The car has 360 degree vision, vision is not perfect, but the car monitors 360 degree, human vision is also not perfect, and is also not 360 degrees. Also autopilot of Tesla is similar to the software my 2015 Acura RLX came with (active cruise control and lane keeping assistance, not lane keeping warning). There is no data in this video whether this software combined with human supervision is safer than human driving or whether it has reduced accidents. The bottom line is drivers are responsible for what their cars do, they are responsible for basic cruise control, they are responsible for autopilot, they are responsible for lane keeping assistance and cruise control combined. This video is much like many people who want to blame anyone or anything rather than take responsibility for their actions.
