I’m wondering whether people in China will ever act with real foresight. Why? Look at their large-scale forestation projects aimed at stopping desert expansion. They wanted to keep water in the soil, but the outcome is the opposite because of leaf transpiration. Then the wind carries the moisture away and it rains in Tibet instead. Wisdom requires knowledge — and in AI it also requires understanding consequences. At least we already have frameworks like the GDPR and the EU AI Act, which can be adapted.
