Even as someone who hasn't really done art in years (though I am starting to get back into it. Oh the pain of realizing how rusty I am) the idea that AI is 'inspired' is absurd to me. Like, you show an artist an image for 30 seconds and let them examine it, then take it away and tell them to make it themselves, and you'll get so many varied versions and differences for each new artist who tries. Every single one will be a representation of the artist who made it, their own perspectives and experiences that lead them to focus and recall certain details better than others, mixed with their own art style that they'll inevitably fall back on to fill the gaps. An inspiration that comes from one of the things that means to be human, if you will.

Shitposters making the dumbest images imaginable by intentionally doing bad photoshop jobs are more 'inspired' than AI will ever be.
