Of course AI getting super smart and deciding it doesn't need us is a real risk. They just had one they were working on that within a day figured out how to disable its shutoff controls and tried to escape off into the etherweb. Multiple AI's have already said people are the biggest threat to the planet and we should be destroyed. It's absolutely going to happen.
