AI can hurt people in two ways. Hacking and scamming will rob people, but this is the lesser evil. The real threat, is still some way off, but still close, and that is replacing jobs, including physical labour as well as clerical jobs. Of the physical job replacement, the largest problem is really military and security where autonomous robots will be deployed. The mechanisms are also separate. Suddenly having a substantial if not majority of the population without meaningful employment will generate discontent and opportunity for an army of people to cause trouble. On the military and security side, it’s simple mistakes by a unit using the wrong level of force on the wrong person. In both cases I would ask you: what might possibly go wrong?
