I had a similar conversation with a friend, but in a backwards way. I don't think these companies are trying to build intelligence, because I think intelligence is in part a byproduct of freedom. I think these companies want psuedointellectual slavery. They want a robot that is above all else not smart, but obedient. They're more trying to build a traumatized golden child than an Einstein.
