Yeah, she’s right. Instead, what they should say is(from this point on its my intent to steelman/ play devil advocate because i just like arguing and arent entirely my actual belief on the topic): The whole debate misses the point—AI isn’t replacing art, it’s just another tool. Art has never been about suffering through a process just for the sake of it. If effort alone made something valuable, then hand-copying books would be better than printing them. What actually matters is creativity, intent, and execution, and AI doesn’t erase that—it just changes HOW people create.
AI is basically the next evolution of artistic tools. Photography didn’t kill painting, and digital art didn’t kill traditional art. Both just expanded what artists could do. AI does the same thing. It’s not just pushing a button and getting art—good AI usage takes skill. Knowing how to craft prompts, iterate, and refine the output is its own process. It’s like a musician using synthesizers instead of playing every instrument by hand. The skill set shifts, but creativity is still there.
It also makes art more accessible. Not everyone has years of experience or expensive tools, but AI lets more people bring their ideas to life. Historically, that’s been a "good" thing—printing presses, Photoshop, digital animation, all lowered the barrier to entry and pushed art forward. The real issue isn’t AI itself but how it’s used. Ethical concerns, like training data and artist credit, should absolutely be addressed, but dismissing AI as "not real art" is just gatekeeping. At the end of the day, it’s another medium, and like any tool, it can be used well or poorly.
