The main reason AI generated art is pointless is because it takes away the art. Art is a way to express, show, and design emotion, experience, or perspective. And can even go further deeper when needed to because that's what creativity is all about, thinking outside of the box, going to new lengths of the mind. So when going through why art is art, it's because we want to create something to represent something. It's as simple as that. We have a mind. But AI doesn't have a mind. It has ways of technologically having a mind of sorts, but not an organic biological human mind. So the art may be nice or beautiful, but what was its purpose? What was it's cause? What was its inspiration? Sure, you can say someone basically made it by giving the AI instructions to follow their thoughts, but did they really make it? Was it desgined by them? Did someone really take their time to make something extravagant themselves? No, they didn't and couldn't because AI did so. They just assisted it, not even helped it. Of course, this is my perspective and opinion on the matter. Not saying AI is bad, it's fascinating for sure, but we don't need it to do things that take us to do so.
