It's pretty much the same thing as the photography. Artists of the time hated it because it took one snap and "no skill" to make a photo which would outmatch any drawing and, could you guess, you can't make new stuff with photography, only something that had already existed, even though AI doesn't make an exact copy, it produces similar images, undoubtedly, but it doesn't make a literal control + c, control + v copy, unless you specify the prompt to a point where the AI is forced to show you the image it was trained on.
In reality, I'm against this stuff because AI usually isn't used commercially. Most oftenly, it's a person who simply can't draw well enough, but now has an ability to express themselves. Some people even take it to absolute extreme by writing out thousands of words in prompts, spending hours upon hours to fine tune the images. Of course, it's not exactly an artistic process, but, non the less, it's still a way for a person to express themselves, even if it looks closer to CNC machining rather than actually painting
