Thousands of years ago an advanced alien civilization called the Cylons created powerful robots and gave them each the gift of Ai.
They flourished together for a time but pretty soon the Cylons robots deemed their creators inferior and turned on them. A war ensued but the robots were too powerful and whiped the Cylons out.
Not content with the death of their biological creators the cylon robots deemed all living things the enemy and ought be destroyed. Eventually attacking Caprica. Home of the distant ancestors of humanity.
The now almost extinct Caprican survivors made their escape on the last Battlestar calked Galactica. Searching through the gakaxy for a fabled planet known only in legend as Earth, to make their new home.
