What is "hijacking of the democratic process" exactly? The problem is democracy at scale doesn't work. Concentrated benefits and dispersed costs, rational ignorance and rational irrationality all get worse with scale more than any improvement you get by scaling up the system. Whether you believe in democracy or not, the best solution is more smaller states and less large ones. So everyone should be pushing for decentralization, which will also increase the cost on corporations as they have more potential regulatory environments to comply or negotiate with, and they can all move faster to address issues instead of going through the slower more bureaucratic process that increases the more you scale up governments (incentives within government are to protect your institution, even when it doesn't work, this is hard to counterbalance the larger that government gets).
