15:30 Niantic had existed for years prior to Pokemon Go and had released a game that was effectively the same as Pokemon Go on launch. Niantic was an internal startup from google, meaning not that it was owned by google but by a group of its employees. While the original game, Ingress, had used google maps in the same sense, it predated Pokemon Go by many years. Both of these applications were most definitely not the invention of surveillance capitalism, or at least as much as maybe the information that Snowden had leaked prior. People who had actually listened to Snowden and looked into what he said knew about our surveillance before 2016.
EDIT: The only business that could profit off of lures were companies that had public monuments in the surrounding area, which doesn't even bring them into the shop. If you open a point that you could place a lure on, it would be quickly removed.
