Artists already were never financially stable, literally nothing changed except that now the people who screw you over aren't hiring you anymore and creatives have a lot more power to create projects on their own, without corporate nonsense getting in the way
The stealing of artwork point is messy, because it doesn't inherently need to do that, and not every model does, it's just that unfortunately, one of the only models I know for a fact legally has the rights to all the images used is adobe, and adobe is awful and obtained those legal rights through scummy practices in many cases.
The big issue with these AI powered image generation algorithms is that they're just poorly managed by those in charge of them, feeding them endless amounts of data is cheap and easy, but includes a lot of misleading data which make the algorithm worse and not better, when they should be manually curating the data being sent into it and running it a couple billion times, feeding it every successful result it makes to slowly improve it over time
