The answer is simple. Artists fear what they can't keep up with, and what takes them hours to accomplish can be made in 10 seconds by AI. This copyright stuff is just an excuse, since putting it on the internet means you've already made your art work copy and paste-able, and they almost never care when a human copy and pastes it, nor when plenty of artists are doing commissions of copyrighted characters. Keep in mind that you still own your art, there just happens to be copies in circulation. A copy is not theft, morally speaking. Something does not have to be profited from to be theft, it is the mere taking without consent/agreement that is theft. Unless you think a 5 year old drawing and selling Spider-Man for $1 should be legally punishable, which is what copyright entails, then I'd have to wonder who's actually in favor of artist's rights, except I don't wonder because I know I wouldn't be the one punishing 5 year olds for selling Spider-Man drawings, nor anyone else.
