While he reads as the mad scientist in every monster movie and was brutally parodied by Silicon Valley as a craven Frankenstein-Joseph-Fritzl hybrid perv, he actually represents and envisions a realistic/optimistic version of a human-centric AI future.. Furthermore, his estimated timeline has stayed rigid for decades, while all the mainstream industry consensus has moved from pegging milestones to "next century" to now more like "next decade", in line with Goetzel's unchanged estimates.
