Absolutely excellent video! As an artist and a photographer I have both used without my permission from multiple sites. This is an issue that relates to all creative works. I am also a writer; they are doing the same thing with writing: inputting the works of others to “teach” the AI how to write. It’s even happening to book narrators. Lack of consent is THE biggest issue. It should be a volunteer only thing where folks provide written permission to license the dataset and/or AI to use their work as content. It’s probably the biggest art heist in history. Every time I bring this up I encounter either folks who agree, who aren’t’ artists and had no idea the image they were sharing was made from stolen images, or the AI denier who believes the AI is “drawing just like a human”. I got into a discussion with another Art YouTuber who did change her opinion after our discussion, but still claims that it’s not computing stolen images to output an imitation…. even though LAION and others all state that they are in their FAQs. I appreciate you making this video. I have written up these points and garnered examples and articles for reference. However, since I don’t film myself for either my YouTube channel or social media I’ve been reluctant to film myself talking about it. I will gladly direct folks to this video on your channel because you explain it nicely and thoroughly.
