Remarkable that this video quotes Hinton on why AI is conscious, but does not include Roger Penrose (probably the greatest theoretician alive) on why it is not. Penrose debunks conscious AI with just 5 words "consciousness is not a computation." And essentially, all AI platforms around today are Large Language Models, that reduce sentences to matrices of numbers, and perform complex computations such as vector-matrix dot product, to arrive at other matrices of numbers which are finally converted to sentences. If anyone believes that doing this makes the system conscious, then I've got a bridge to sell you. That is not to say that all the other threats highlighted by this video are not real, just that expecting AI to behave in a manner that consciousness requires is not a real one.
