What disgusts me is the framing of this as "humans need to work." We have AI replacing /labor/, not human beings. The problem is NOT "how do we keep people toiling tho?" It's, "Now that we have the ability like never before to allow people to be free from the oppression of making billionaires more wealthy so we can afford to eat... why are we clinging to labor, instead of saying we should give everyone access to resources, and if their labor is not required to keep the country moving... let them relax and do what they like?"
If robots take over labor, we literally need to rethink "money" entirely. I am all for eliminating the working class (that I'm in), but that should NOT mean divorcing human beings from survival resources. Only in the USA could we see "not having to work anymore" as a negative thing as we struggle for ways to continue to exploit and commodify human labor.
Not having to work would not at all dehumanize me. It would set me free. My job is what dehumanizes me in the USA. Nothing is more dehumanizing to the whole world than our loyalty to capitalism.
